Honda Xcelerator is a division of Honda Innovations, and their mission is to give support to promising tech in the hopes of launching the automotive industry forward, as the Honda brand has been doing for generations. And what better place to show off the projects they have in the works than at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES®)? We’re always excited for a little sneak peek into what we’ll see on our lot near Kitty Hawk, NC in days to come, and this year’s CES did not disappoint, with Honda Xcelerator showing off innovations from six of their partnerships.

WayRay certainly has their sites set high. They’ve developed a holographic augmented reality (AR) navigation system. In plain terms, that means turning your windshield into a holographic screen. With the greatest field of view (FOV) on the market, multicolored virtual objects creation capability, and compact traditional mirror and lens technology that allows for a high-resolution projection at a comfortable distance for drivers' eyes, we can’t wait to see where this partnership takes the Honda brand.

EXO Technologies puts us on more familiar footing. Their efforts are focused on high-accuracy, low-cost GPS solutions. Like many companies in the automotive industry, EXO Technologies is hard at work trying to push the capabilities of GPS further than ever, with the goal of improving everything from turn-by-turn directions for drivers to functionality for autonomous vehicles. But what sets them apart is their unique goal of creating these improvements without additional hardware or terrestrial base stations.

Speaking of autonomous vehicle navigation, DeepMap—another Honda Xcelerator partner—provides precise high-definition (HD) maps and real-time localization for just this purpose. Their team is focusing on building a cloud-based platform to enable creation of three-dimensional (3D) HD maps using sensors on autonomous vehicle fleets.
