The Honda Prelude was a beloved compact sports coupe that evolved over five generations during its run from 1978 to 2001. After over two decades, Honda automakers have announced that this model is making a return. Though not released yet, you can get the details of this much-talked-about new Honda car at Hall Honda Elizabeth City.

Performance Highlights

Several details have been confirmed so far. The vehicle will be released as a hybrid-electric vehicle. It will also be the first with the Honda S+ Shift™. This new drive mode works in tandem with the Linear Shift Control™ for improved upshifts and downshifts.

Engine Specifications

Under the hood will be the same 2.0-liter hybrid I-4 engine found in the 2025 Honda Civic Sport Hybrid and Honda Accord Hybrid. It has also been confirmed that a six-speed manual transmission will not be available. We expect the new model’s handling to be on par with the sporty handling the brand’s longtime fans associate with the Prelude name.

Release Date

The Honda Prelude is slated for a 2025 release as a 2026 model. We don’t have an exact release date yet, but we encourage you to keep an eye on this space, since we’ll share more information as it becomes available. Suffice it to say that this is another step in the company’s goal of having its entire roster of vehicles be an electric model by 2040.
